Roy Morgan Interviewing Services is Australia’s best know and longest established market research and public opinion polling company, and was founded in 1941 by Roy Morgan.

The company specialises in gathering a wide range of market research information covering consumer, social and political topics. This information is gathered by personal views (face to face interviews), the telephone (CATI), self-administered and the internet. Roy Morgan Interviewing Services has approximately 1500+ casual Interviewers conducting interviews Australia wide. 

cati ABOUT THE ROLE — CATI INTERVIEWING

What is CATI?

CATI is a method for gathering market research data over the telephone using a computer to guide the interviewing process. Casual Interviewers are guided by questions that appear on the computer screen. You ask the respondents the questions exactly as written on the screen and record their answers on the computer. There is no selling involved.

CATI stands for - Computer Assisted Telephone Interviewing

Roy Morgan Interviewing Services runs one large CATI call centre which is located in Melbourne. It has a seating capacity of up to 226 and is located in the CBD.

Who should apply?

We have no set personality profile for casual CATI Interviewers. As these roles are flexible they suit many different people.

To be considered for the role of a casual CATI Interviewer you must posses the following skills:

Excellent communication skills — You will need to have clear and distinct speech and be fluent in English. You must be able to understand respondents as well as be understandable. A pleasant telephone manner is also desired.

NOTE - Overseas students require a MINIMUM Band 8.8 IELTS (Academic) and a MINIMUM score of Band 8.8 for the Speaking Task

Keyboard Skills — As you will need to record everything a respondent says, you will need to be able to type a minimum of 30 words per minute.

cati The Work — CATI Interviewing

Working Hours
The majority of our CATI interviewing is conducted during the evenings on the weekdays and during the afternoon on weekends.
 
Shift times are variable but are generally:

Mon — Fri               5pm — 9pm
Sat & Sun              between the hours of 11am — 4 or 5pm (Interviews are able to work a 6 or 7 hour shift between these hours).

At times there may be other shifts that can become available. These may include early morning shifts, day shifts or even midnight shifts.

At Roy Morgan Interviewing Services we pride ourselves on the flexibility that we can offer our casual Interviewers — you decide which of the shifts we offer you that you'd like to work! Casual CATI interviewers book themselves into shifts on a by responding to our shift offers via an SMS.   

CATI Interviewer Availability
Whilst Roy Morgan Research Interviewers book themselves into shifts, they are expected to work a minimum of three shifts per week. This includes at least one shift over the weekend. You may be able to work more that the minimum number of shifts required if the work is available.

Nature of the Surveys
A majority of work that is conducted in our CATI call centres is Customised / Ad Hoc Research. These surveys are designed specifically for a wide range of clients and may last for 1 month up to 1 year. For this reason we can offer our casual CATI Interviewers a variety of surveys to work on the span a range of topics concerning consumer, social and political issues.

cati CATI INTERVIEWER RECRUITMENT PROCESS

Vacancies and Advertising

Roy Morgan Interviewing Service’s CATI Call centres recruit at different times of the year to ensure each call centres pool of interviewers is sufficient. Vacancies are usually listed on this website.

Reference Checks

You are required to provide us with at least two referees — at least one related work referee is required. References will be checked before being invited to attend a Group Interview. Please note that not supplying a daytime or business contact number may delay the process of your application.

Successful Applications

Successful but No Vacancies
If we believe that you posses the relevant skills and experience to become a casual CATI Interviewer and we have no vacancies, we will place your application ‘on hold’ and contact you if any vacancies arise later on to see if you are interested. If you do not wish your details to be kept on hold, please let us know and we will destroy them immediately.

Successful and Vacancies
If we believe that you posses the relevant skills and experience to become a casual CATI Interviewer and we are recruiting for our call centre you will be contacted to inform you of the next step in the process — the Information Session.


catiCATI Group Interview and CATI Information & Assessment Session

CATI Group Interviews:
CATI Group Interviews are held in a small group and provides applicants with an explanation of the position and working conditions so that you are fully aware of all the relevant details of the position prior to committing to us. This is followed by sitting a brief telephone aptitude test. The telephone aptitude test is carried out by a member of the CATI staff who acts as the respondent and lasts for about 6 minutes. Applicants are made aware if they are successful before leaving.  In which case they are invited back to attend a CATI Information, Assessment and Project Briefing session.

CATI Information, Assessment and Project Briefing session:
The CATI Information, Assessment and Project Briefing session is also carried out in a small group and will provide applicants with more detailed instruction about the position and allow us to further assess your suitability for the role.


cati Privacy of Information

The information you provide to us in your application form and resume is only used to process your application to become a casual Interviewer with Roy Morgan Research. Your information will be destroyed if your application is unsuccessful or we have already kept your details on hold for 6 months. If you do not wish your details to be kept, please let us know.
