Q. What does the work involve?

Interviews are conducted door to door in the homes of local residents. You ask the respondents the questions exactly as written and record their answers.

Q. How far will I have to travel?

Interviews are usually conducted within a reasonable distance from your home. A reimbursement for distance travelled is paid.

Q. Do I really need my own transport?

Yes. Sometimes the locations aren't handy to public transport, and public transport isn't as frequent during the weekends.

Q. What does the work pay?

Work is paid either at an hourly rate ($21.35/hr & 62 cents/km) or a package fee, whatever is the greater, which includes both interviewing and looking for people to interview.

Q. What is an assignment?

An assignment consists of 8 face-to-face interviews per weekend.

Q. How long does the interview take?

The interview itself takes on average one hour. This is an average, and entirely dependant upon how many topics are relevant to the respondent. It can be as short as 45 minutes and as long as 90 minutes.

Q. How much time will I spend interviewing?

Casual Interviewers commence interviewing on Saturday morning and usually complete their assignment sometime Sunday. The work is done during daylight hours only.

Please be aware that it is your decision as to which weekends you wish to work, but when you do work a weekend you must set aside 1¹/₂ to 2 days to complete all of your interviews

Q. Will appointments be made?

No. You will be given a starting address and be asked to work from there. If the person you approach for interview does not have time or is going out you must make an appointment to call back later that same weekend.

Q. What is the public reception like to these interviews?

Very good. Most people have heard of the "Morgan Poll" and know that Roy Morgan Interviewing Services is a reputable company. Respondents can be sure that the information they give us is strictly confidential and will not be used for mailing lists or any other unauthorized use. Roy Morgan Interviewing Services fully complies with all the requirements of the National Privacy Legislation. Finally, respondents know that the information they give us can be used to help shape the face of Australia and that the Morgan Poll gives people the opportunity to be heard.

Q. How will people know that I am a Morgan Poll Interviewer?

Official identification is provided to reassure the public that Casual Interviewers are working for Roy Morgan Interviewing Services.

Q. Will I have to interview every weekend?

No. The work is flexible, you only work on the weekends you choose. We would like you to commit an average of two weekends per month however this is entirely up to you, you can work every weekend if the work is available.

Q. For how long will the work last?

Roy Morgan Interviewing Services conducts approximately 1,000 every weekend and has been doing face-to-face interviewing since 1941. We will continue to conduct face-to-face interviews well into the future. You can continue to interview for as long as you like.
