A special telephone Morgan Poll over two nights in late April 2010 finds: Support for retaining the Australian Flag is strong with 69% of Australians (up 16% since February 1998) supporting the retention of the Union Jack as part of the Australian Flag. This is the highest since June 1982 (69%). Only 24% (down 17%) of Australians want the Union Jack taken out of the Australian Flag while 7% (up 1%) can’t say according to a special telephone Morgan Poll conducted in late April 2010. When asked "Do you think Australia should have a new design for our National Flag?" respondents were keen to retain the current Australian Flag with 66% (up 22%) of Australians in support of retaining the current flag design compared to 29% (down 23%) saying they wanted a new Australian Flag and only 5% (up 1%) that couldn’t say.
