SINCE NOVEMBER ELECTION
Today’s New Zealand Roy Morgan Poll, the first since the 2011 New Zealand Election shows support for Prime Minister John Key’s National-led Government is 49.5% (down 0.9% since the Election). Support for Key’s National Party is 47% (down 0.3% since the Election), the Maori Party 1.5% (up 0.1%), ACT NZ 0.5% (down 0.6%), and United Future 0.5% (down 0.1%). Support for Opposition Parties is at 50.5% (up 0.9%) — Labour Party 27.5% (unchanged), Greens 14.5% (up 3.4%), New Zealand First 5% (down 1.6%), Mana Party 1% (unchanged) and Others 2.5% (down 0.9%). The latest New Zealand Roy Morgan Government Confidence Rating is up 14 points to 132.5 — with 60.5% (up 11%) of New Zealanders saying New Zealand is ‘heading in the right direction’ compared to 28% (down 3%) that say New Zealand is ‘heading in the wrong direction.’ Gary Morgan says:
Electors were asked: “If a New Zealand Election were held today which party would receive your party vote?” This latest New Zealand Roy Morgan Poll on voting intention was conducted by telephone with a NZ wide cross-section of 1,776 electors from January 3-15, 2012. Of all electors surveyed 3.5% (down 0.5%) didn’t name a party.
