New research measuring retail customer satisfaction in New Zealand reveals the top performers over the last year are from a diverse group of stores, covering home and fashion, chemists, clothing, books and hardware. The South Island department store Ballantynes ranked highest on customer satisfaction, with 89.8% of its customers satisfied, closely followed by Pumpkin Patch (89.5%), Unichem (88.9%), Whitcoulls (87.9%) and Hammer Hardware (87.6%) rounding out the top 5. The average level of satisfaction across all 66 stores tracked is 82.8%. With 7.0 percentage points difference between the best (Ballantynes at 89.8%) and the average of all 66 stores (82.8%) it is clear that even a few points could make a large difference to the performance of each retailer.
