2018 Christmas retails sales to grow 2.9% to $51.5 billion

Roy Morgan’s annual Christmas retail sales forecasts conducted in conjunction with the Australian Retailers Association (ARA) indicate Australians will spend nearly $51.5 billion across retail stores during the Christmas trading period from November 9-December 24 (46 days).

Since October last year Roy Morgan has asked more than 10,000 Australians to nominate brands they trust and brands they distrust, and why. Surveys are unprompted and open-ended. A Net Trust Score or NTS is calculated by subtracting a nominated brand’s distrust score from its trust score.

Bunnings satisfies most customers

New research from Roy Morgan shows that in the 12 months to May 2018, 89.5% of hardware store customers were satisfied, an increase of 2.2% year on year. All four of the major players showed improvement, including the market leader Bunnings, which was up 1.3% points to 89.8%.
